Connect Gumroad to Drawspan
Use Gumroad Ping sale notifications to issue licences for initial and recurring paid sales.
Before you start
- A Gumroad account with the product ready to sell.
- A Digital product for a one-off payment, or a Membership for recurring billing.
- The product permalink from its /l/ URL.
- A Drawspan product with a reusable licence plan.
- Optional API refund notifications, or a plan for manually revoking refunded access. Review disputes and chargebacks manually if no notification arrives.
- In Connected platforms, choose Connect platform, then Gumroad.
- Give the connection a name your team will recognise. Keep its workspace open.
- Expand step 1 and copy the webhook URL. Paste that URL into the provider dashboard below.
- Save the provider secret in the matching Drawspan endpoint. For Lemon Squeezy, generate it in Drawspan first. Gumroad has no signing secret.
- Expand step 2, link the product, then follow the testing instructions before enabling live sales.
Read the shared testing, expiry, email and recovery rules. Drawspan grants access to customers and seats; it does not email separate licence keys or issue ownerless licences.
Configure the webhook
Open Gumroad → Settings → Advanced → Ping.
Gumroad accepts one account-wide Ping URL. The same private Drawspan endpoint receives test purchases, initial sales, and recurring charges.

Gumroad has no event picker. Ping sends one sale-notification type to the account-wide URL.

Link products
Drawspan matches this provider by Product permalink: your-product from gumroad.com/l/your-product.
- Create or open the product in Gumroad. Choose Digital product for a one-off payment or Membership for recurring billing.
- Copy its public /l/ URL.
- Paste the full /l/ URL or the text after /l/. Drawspan extracts the permalink. Keep the mapping current if the product URL changes.
- In Drawspan, paste the permalink and choose the licence plan it should issue.
Test the connection
- Complete Gumroad’s creator test purchase for the mapped product.
- In Drawspan, refresh the connection and inspect Recent webhooks.
- Confirm that Drawspan received the Ping and matched the permalink. Gumroad marks this purchase as a test, so Drawspan does not issue access.
- To verify non-test issuance without buying your own product, create a 100% discount code and complete checkout while signed out using another email address. Then confirm the customer and licence in Drawspan.
Checkout setup
Optional full-refund notifications: create an application and access token in Gumroad’s Advanced settings. Run this request once with your private Drawspan URL as POST_URL. Gumroad owns the API token; do not enter it in Drawspan or put it in browser code. List resource subscriptions to confirm the refund subscription exists. Basic Ping alone does not send these refunds.

Purchases, renewals, refunds, and cancellations

Limits and recovery
- If the private URL is exposed, disconnect the Gumroad platform in Drawspan and create a new connection with a new URL.
- An accepted sale can be retried from Drawspan. A sale never delivered to Drawspan still needs a provider resend or manual correction.
- Disconnecting the platform stops future Pings. Existing customer access stays unchanged.
After correcting an accepted event, open Recent webhooks in its connection and choose Retry processing. Signature-rejected events cannot be retried inside Drawspan; resend them from the provider after fixing the secret. Troubleshooting
- No Ping appears in Drawspan
- Confirm that Gumroad saved the exact private URL and that only one current Ping URL is configured.
- A test purchase did not issue a licence
- This is expected. Test purchases verify delivery and mapping without granting access.
- A paid sale did not map
- Compare the product_permalink in the Ping with the permalink saved in Drawspan.
- A refunded customer still has access
- Check the optional API refund subscription. Without it, open the customer in Drawspan and revoke access manually.
